Belle Isle State Park
Located on the beautiful lower Rappahannock River, this park has seven miles of frontage on the north shore, and it borders Deep and Mulberry creeks. It features diverse tidal and non-tidal wetlands, lowland marshes, tidal coves and upland forests. These diverse ecosystems make Belle Isle an excellent outdoor laboratory for environmental exploration and education for the whole family.
Hungry Mother State Park
Hungry Mother State Park in southwestern Virginia is noted for its woodlands and lake. Easily accessible, this park has folklore and history, swimming, camping, cabin rentals, boat rentals, fishing pier, as well as hiking and biking trails. Kiptopeke State Park
Located on the eastern shore of Virginia, this park offers recreational access to the Chesapeake Bay and the chance to explore a unique coastal habitat featuring a major flyway for migratory birds. Lake Anna State Park
Lake Anna State Park used to be known as “Gold Hill” and contained the Goodwin Gold Mine, but now it is known for Lake Anna. While boating and fishing on this beautiful lake are major attractions, these are only some of the park’s offerings. Lakefront picnic areas and wooded hiking trails are also popular for the entire family.
Sky Meadows State Park
Just an hour’s drive from Washington, DC, Sky Meadows State Park in Clarke and Fauquier counties, offers a peaceful getaway on the eastern side of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Rich in history, this park provides recreational offerings that engage visitors and help connect them with farming practices that formed its unique pastoral landscape. Hiking, picnicking, fishing and primitive hike-in camping are favorite activities in this peaceful getaway.
