The Buffalo National River is Arkansas’ hidden gem, known and loved by locals but largely a secret outside of The Natural State. And that’s too bad, because the river is a national treasure. In fact, it was the first designated National River in the United States and is one of only a few rivers in the continental U.S. that has not been dammed. At 153 miles long, there are plenty of places to pitch a tent along the riverbank, but these are a few of our favorites.
